OTH2.Net - Reviewing your favorite games and tech since 1999!
@jonea16 I’m one of many uphappy about the game and i will continue to rant and rave about it until Bioware listen to their fan base.The game was a mistake poor sales show that the backlash on the forums showed that.I would have been happy with change if it was to improve the game not dumb it down for 14 year old console fanboys
@Quionic7 I’m not blind, just unconvinced that your points have any validity. The game was adequate. I enjoyed it, but I’m not beyond admitting that it had failings. However, your criticism of the game doesn’t seem to match with the content of the game itself, and that leads me to believe you didn’t actually finish your playthrough.
DA2 is different from DAO, but not drastically. Combat was revamped, story a bit more linear, characters a bit dampened, but they’re not massive changes.
@nash3timemvp There will always be controversy between people who want a sequel to be more like the original, and those who enjoy the changes. I myself liked the change in the combat and storytelling. There were bad elements too, to be sure, but I don’t feel that the cons outweighed the improvements.
Combat is still tactical, if you want it to be, but just because it isn’t necessary anymore doesn’t mean it’s gone. Lore is still to be found. The things you’re saying you miss are still there. :\
Man default Hawke is ugly as fuck
@SamusX10
Story and characters the things that matter in an RPG. And yes I did beat the game, nothing I did mattered. No matter what, everyone turns evil, the evil Templar woman turned more evil because of an evil artifact. Every character was bisexual and wanted me, not to mention everything evil turned out to be blood mages (who were suppose to be hard to come by), the characters were also very annoying and uninteresting and tended to be idiots. Just lazy writing over all.
@Quionic7 Let’s clarify. The leaders of both sects will go nuts and challenge you, yes, but the epilogue IS different depending on whether you side with the Templars or the Mages. That’s kind of important to distinguish.
Secondly, you’re able to sleep with any of the four romanceable characters. Two of them are able to enter into a relationship with Hawke, and two are not. Your Hawke is not a *** fiend, he just has options. You don’t ‘have’ to flirt with your companions.
DA2 was a great game, i don’t see all the **** it got. ur labeled a ‘fanboy’ if u like a game that they don’t. it’s okay of u don’t like a game, just don’t try 2 put someone down ’cause they do, that’s y there r opinions. if u don’t like DA2 don’t play it,simple. it seems some people (Quionic) r stuck on things from one game that hinders them from enjoying the new in the next game. they’ll always find something 2 hate
i loved the combat and graphics, more so than DAO. i really didn’t mind the reused areas after awhile, 2 busy fighting. i just finished my 8th playthrough( 3on PS3 -5 on Xbox ). i agree with Shikakiri on his/her comment also. no game is perfect. there’s always gonna be something u don’t like. i guess some people feel too entitled 2 have everything tailored 2 their liking. if there’s nothing u like, don’t play it or maybe ur just 2 picky
@finalfatasyfreak49 I agree that it wasn’t as good as DAO, but it was pretty hard to live up to. I’m on my second playthrough and I’m enjoying it a lot more now that I’m not expecting it to be like Origins. I would like a better Dragon Age 3, but Dragon Age 2 is still a vastly above average game.
@finalfatasyfreak49 Gameplay/ combat is better….story and world…worse….
@Quionic7 I agree. The story was unappealing, characters (except varric) were annoying, your decisions didn’t matter, uninteresting/repetitive environments, bad art direction, importation of saved files from DA:O was pointless, and the list goes on. The only good aspect to DA2 is it’s combat, however this is merely my opinion.
What’s really funny is how much i enjoyed the game, even if it was way worse than the first one.. Well there is one thing that is good though.. It was SO much worse that bioware knows it and they will deffinitelly make a better third game
Bioware’s only human, they sometimes ***** up. *shrug*
@ticktock8692 I think he looks fine but his voice is boring as fuck
I’ll take this game over Oblivion any day. Is the voice acting shitty? No. Do the character models look like ***? No. Is the leveling system broken? No. Are the side quests fucking pointless and repetitive? No. Is the combat boring and shallow? No. Are the environments re-used? Well, yes, but so is every fucking dungeon design in Oblivion.
I plan to erase this abomination of a rpg from my memory in 7 days with Skyrim. its gonna be awesome!
@BeerTimeGaming who is talking about oblivion? oblivion ***** almost as much as DA2. Ok, not really, it is true that oblivion was a disapointment compared to Morrowind (the best elder scrolls game so far), but it still lives up to the elder scrolls name. Dragon age was supposed to be the spiritual successor of baldur’s gate(bioware’s masterpiece), tell me, do you see any resemblance between DA2 and Baldur’s gate? Do you see it living up to baldur’s gate name? i thought so…
@eusouocarameuirmao Dragon Age: Origins is the spiritual successor to Baldur’s Gate. With Awakening and the multiple expansions you D&D goons should have been satisfied. Bioware never claimed that Dragon Age 2 would be anything like it. They obviously decided to go in more of a Mass Effect direction with the franchise, which is A-OK with me. It’s funny how gamers **** change, yet complain when series like Modern Warfare remain largely unaltered over 4 titles.
@BeerTimeGaming i couldn’t care less if modern warfare is changing or not. I don’t play MW!! About the main topic: satisfied? Hell no! DAO is a badass game but it had a lot of flaws and left a lot of room for improvement, they should have worked on that. But noooooooooo…. “Herp derp, lets change the entire series for no reasons at all even though people loved the first game, herp derp”
@eusouocarameuirmao MW was just an example. I don’t play it either for the simple fact that each release is exactly the same as the previous. But that’s beside the point. I’m glad they moved away from the antiquated Baldur’s Gate formula. That game is inaccessible to the average gamer. Dragon Age 2 caters to a larger audience with varying play styles. Hell my wife who hasn’t played a game since the original Spyro the Dragon has beaten DA2 twice. $60 well spent.
@BeerTimeGaming Yeah, and now look at all the bitching and **** they are getting because of this! Complexity is the forte of a RPG, dumbing it down is its poison!
“That game is inaccessible to the average gamer” but that is exactly how it is supposed to be,otherwise we will end up with a lot of dumbed down “acessible” rpgs. DAO already was friendly and acessible enough. How much more do you want? a win button?
never played dragon age was wondering if I should start from origins or jump straight into number two ????
@Androidz101 dragon age 2 ***** bro, play dragon age origins. If you dont believe me, just do some research…
It sounds like someone else wrote the review and she just read it….
I fucking **** this fucking game. I don’t even dare to call it a game. It’s a walking forward and talking simulator. Don’t buy it, don’t rent it, don’t even give it a second thought. As I played it I thought it was just as bad as Final Fantasy 13 but you know what? It’s not just as bad as FF13, it’s fucking worse! Why you may ask? Because it’s Bioware and they should know better.
